Denise is a HR Professional who loves people, and more specifically, people at work.
She loves meeting them, talking with them, listening to them, understanding them, finding out what makes them tick, learning about what makes them tock (a tock is a tick in the wrong direction which is to be avoided). She loves to learn about their past, and to get them talking about their future. She loves celebrating their achievements, helping them find satisfaction in their work, acknowledging their efforts, seeing them reach their full potential and helping them through and past roadblocks. She loves to give them a voice where they have none, speaking up for them when no-one else is, and helping them find their way through the maze of changes that can be overwhelming in any workplace.
Known for her ability to connect with people quickly, she brings a sense of excitement and adventure to any workplace. Denise see’s her role as helping every single individual travel well in the workplace, she works hard to get them the resources that they need on their respective journeys, ensuring decisions that are made along the way are done with the human in mind.
Denise believes that Culture, like Safety, is everyone’s responsibility, and that means everyone having the same intention to build their culture of choice. For Denise, that starts with an open mind. Denise’s mantra is #openmindsopenheartsopendoors and she lives that philosophy through her craft. Denise loves to reflect, connect the dots, learn from past efforts, apply her learning and do it all with others. In fact, she would say that the combination of these traits is her Superpower.
A learner at heart, you might find Denise learning a language (on Duolingo with a friend or 5), learning and sharing a new knitting pattern, working out how to read a crochet pattern, reading, writing, playing piano (slowly), thinking up new business ideas (with friends), volunteering her time to learn online or to support rock’nroll communities like ACDC. True to her Taurean star sign, food and friends play a significant part in her life, but for Denise, the consumption of food is not so much about the food as it is about the opportunity to connect with others. With her family comprising one hubby (who happens to be an awesome cook), four kids, and a crazy Kelpie cross, family breakfasts are to be treasured, family birthday dinners are obligatory, and entertaining is a given.
Denise is currently leading a group of 80 strong (and growing) people through a change-transformation at Festo, a German engineering company and the world’s leading supplier of automation technology and technical education. Denise is available to connect through her LinkedIn profile and at various cafes and eateries across Melbourne.
